What
Is Cognitive
Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses natural trance states that are experienced by most people, many times during the day, spontaneously. For example, have you ever driven somewhere and suddenly realized that you have arrived at your destination without realizing that you'd got there? This is a trance state. By using these safe, and naturally occurring trance states, the unconscious mind can be accessed to assist in uncovering the thoughts, feelings and memory patterns that led to the problem, and which continue to maintain it.
Sessions
During a
consultation
I will act
as a guide,
encouraging
you to find
your own
solutions
using the
most up to
date techniques
that will
modify these
patterns
so that you
are able
to take control
of your behaviour.
Unlike many
Hypnotherapists
that work
with the
one script
fits all
approach,
Quest Instititute
graduates
such as myself
will use
Word Weaving,
a unique
approach
to hypnotic
language
developed
by Trevor
Silvester,
that incorporates
the clients
own words
and ideas
into a pattern
of suggestion.

During the initial session, which may take
up to an hour and a half, there will be an extensive questioning
period where you will be asked to explain how you experience
the problem and how you would like your life to be if it were
no longer an issue.
The information
you give will be
used to create
an unique therapeutic
approach specifically
tailored to meet
your particular
needs.
If during this
initial session
we both come to
an agreement that
Cognitive Hypnotherapy
is not right for
you at this time,
you may reserve
your right not
to pay for that
session as it is
my belief that
in order for treatment
to be successful,
we need to work
together as a partnership.
How Many?
My aim is to successfully
complete your treatment
in the shortest
time possible.
No two clients
are the same so
it is difficult
to say exactly
how long your therapy
will last, but
on average a simple
phobia issue may
take just 2 sessions
whereas a more
in depth issue
may require 4 to
6 sessions.
Will I lose control?
Contrary to what
you may have seen
on the TV, Cognitive
Hypnotherapy does
not involve the use
of swinging watches,
or the phrase "look
into my eyes".
You will be in total
control of your actions
at all times, and
as you will only
be in a natural light
trance state, you
can talk to me throughout
and can stop therapy
at any time should
you wish. You will
only divulge information
that you are happy
to do. Also, not
all therapy takes
place with your eyes
closed, and if you
are more comfortable
leaving your eyes
open then that is
absolutely fine.
What hypnotherapy
is likely to do is
give you a sense
of relaxation and
calm, which may continue
for several hours
after a session has
finished.
